Known internationally as a tourism venue, Glengariff boasts many natural attractions. It sits at the northern head of Glengarriff Bay, a smaller enclave of Bantry Bay. Glengariff offers shops, art galleries, pubs, restaurants & ferry trips to Garnish Island.

It has been a tourist destination since the 1700s and saw a huge boom in visitors during the Victorian period. Apparently, W B Yeats was a regular visitor in the 1920s and Hollywood legend, Maureen O’Hara made Glengarrif her home. To accommodate the influx of visitors, there is a vast array of restaurants and cafes, with the local pubs regularly holding live music events.

Glengarrif also boasts a selection of shops and galleries for you to view the work of local artists. There are craft shops with an array of Irish crafts and gifts, a bustling outdoor market and Quills Woollen market, which has been producing traditional Irish knitwear for 80 years.

Nestled between the mountains and the sea, Glengarriff has the best of both worlds, with plenty of walks for you to take in the spectacular landscape and views of Bantry Bay.
